Reuse

Developing high quality and local reuse

Once used textiles and footwear have been collected, reuse is the first key to recovering these flows. Selecting items and showcasing them effectively are essential to standing out from the crowd... and going even further!

Three years after Refashion launched dedicated second-hand initiatives, the results are tangible.

Industry stakeholders, committed to developing desirable and local second-hand solutions, have helped improve stream traceability, strengthen the shopping experience for solidarity-based reuse, and establish reconditioning — sanitisation, cleaning and repair — as a lever for recovery and performance.

To go further, 2025 was a year rich in lessons learned. To provide a precise overview of a sector undergoing major transformation, Refashion published a State of the Art of Second-Hand in France, conducted among both industry stakeholders and consumers. The results confirm the gradual and sustainable growth of the second-hand market, which is establishing itself as a major economic and environmental priority for the future of fashion.

In parallel, four speed meetings organised across the territories provided opportunities to meet stakeholders, discuss their day-to-day challenges and identify the concrete responses that the Producer Responsibility Organisation can provide.

By gradually structuring an ambitious second-hand ecosystem, Refashion supports the emergence of sustainable solutions capable of combining environmental, economic and social impact.
