Repairing to extend
the service life of clothing and footwear
In 2025, Refashion took a further step in structuring and professionalising the repair of textiles and footwear.
The year was defined by an in-depth initiative: ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Repair Bonus and preparing for the broader evolution of the repair fund. Refashion conducted a study as part of the mid-term review clause of its specification framework, the findings of which were submitted to public authorities on 1 July 2025. While the Repair Bonus has proven its effectiveness, it cannot on its own drive the evolution of the profession. The study therefore puts forward proposals for a Repair Fund 2.0 conceived as a whole — incorporating not only the bonus, but also awareness-raising, training and the recognition of repairers' skills and expertise.

On the skills and training front, Refashion supported the creation of the School of Repair in Roubaix, to train new professionals and provide lasting structure to the profession. In parallel, through the work of a dedicated Working Group, a White Paper was published setting out 10 concrete recommendations to adapt the training offering and strengthen synergies across the ecosystem.
Refashion also launched the RÉPARE programme for producers: practical guides, webinars, B2B publications — a range of educational resources to support them in setting up a repair service.
